WHAT WE DO

The purpose of the Association is to advance and protect the interests of the members while promoting the advancement of the Internet sector, promoting the accessibility and uptake of the Internet and contributing to the general national development agenda.

We aspire to bring together the Internet community to collectively make the Internet accessible to as many people as possible by encouraging the proliferation of Internet services in the sector, and have their effects be as positive as possible to the users and the country in general.

TISPA strives to bring together the Internet community to collectively make the internet accessible to as many Tanzanians as possible. They are the founders of the Dar-es-salaam Internet eXchange Point (commonly known as the TIX) based on the 13th Floor, Posta House in Dar-es-salaam and the co-founders of tzNIC. Our Vision

To be the association of choice for the Internet Service Providers of Tanzania

  • A registered NGO
  • 22 Active members and 37 organisation connected at TIX, out of this 22 are TISPA members and 15 are non-members including 5 government agencies (ex. EGA, TRA & BOT)
  • Internationally recognized by bodies such as AIS, AfNOG, AfriNIC, AfPIF, AfrISPA, AfTLD and ISOC.
  • TCRA donated 5 x IXPs in Dodoma, Mwanza & Arusha, Zanzibar & Mbeya
  • TIX – was the FIRST IX in East Africa
  • Launched the Google Global Cache (GGC) -2014
  • Launched AKAMAI Cache – 2016
  • Host AfPIF-7 -2016
  • Host SAfNOG-4 -2018

ORGANISATION STRUCTURE

Through democratic selection of its leaders by its membership, the Association works to champion and safeguard member interests while fostering growth in the Internet industry. It strives to make the Internet more accessible and widely adopted, ultimately contributing to national development goals

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

The Executive Committee (EC) serves as the primary governance body of the Association, elected by and accountable to its members. Composed of experienced industry professionals chosen for their expertise and vision, the EC provides strategic direction and oversight of the Association's activities. The Committee is responsible for implementing the Association's mission, managing its resources, and ensuring that decisions align with member interests while advancing the broader goals of Internet development and accessibility. Through regular meetings and consultative decision-making, the EC works to translate member priorities into actionable programs and policies.
